Prefered Firplaces

Okay, there are a couple of options for heating. the first is dickinson's fireplace

or the second option is from force 10 propane heater

the dickinson seems to be a bit less expensive and has a better asthetic look to it. Supose would be the best choice. any input would be apreciated.

Interior thoughts for Harpoon

Was browsing sailboat pictures and seen a location for cabin heat that would probably work fine w/ a little heat sheild that could even be portable. The removable pad on the aft bulkhead of the nav table looks like a very nice spot. should allow adequate ventalation tube length and a nice central location with great access to the cockpit locker where it should be fairly simple to install the proper cylinder locker with ventalation out the stern. may want to use one w/ smaller profile.

Started a to do list for winter 04

Warmed up today, kind of surprising. The Harpoon is for sale, kinda. We ran an ad in 48 degrees north for a month to see what would happen. got a lot of interest but so far nobody has made an offer. showed a couple the boat today and while I was there started a list of things to get done this winter or next spring, depending on the mood of the winter months :) I currently have a lot of things in the hopper that demand the use of my free time but should be short term (in the big picture). Haven't been out sailing in quite some time now, seems like 6 weeks or so. will have to concetrate on making time in the next couple weekends. Warm temps and decent breezes made it real tempting today but I guess there will be other great days

Great Day Tinkering

off to "Harpoon" for a relaxing day of cleaning & tinkering. Boat really turns green fast this time of year, but after about an hour all the hidden nooks and crannys were white again and I was relaxing in the cabin w/ a good book and some quiet music on the stereo. Hmm, house battery been used a bit lately and not a lot of engine time to rejuvinate. Have a brand new two bank battery maintenance / charger yet to be installed as the right spot hasn't yet smacked me in the head. pulled the charger out of the storage locker, unwrapped all the wire harnesses, and started carrying it around. Tried the couple spots that origanally looked to be right but didn't feel good about them. Then stumbled on a location that was out of the way, easily visible for monitoring, good venitlation and easy access to the batteries and 110 volts. Got the charger mounted, installed and plugged in all within a 1/2 hr. Also got out the cabin heater as it is getting to be the condensation time of year. All in all it was a fine day at the boat

S/V Mico Verde

Just went back and had a look at the journal of a couple on their way to the land where butter melts in their sailboat Mico Verde. They have lots of journal entries and pictures documenting their virgin extended voyage to the south.

Football season and Sailing

Well, football season is 5 weeks old and my sailing season is building steam. The season went long into spring and the start of summer so am not too disapointed in the late start this fall. Have move Harpoon (28' Yankee sloop) south to Port of Everett this year. Will be interesting to experience sailing in an area that is not as populated with islands. Although islands provide a lot of lee they also give a very pleasurable visual affect. It looks initially as though we will only spend one season down here and then try to move back up to Anacortes to take advantage of the islands and friendly. Guess we'll see what next weekend brings
